A POGROM OF THE MEDIA: TBILISI, JULY 5 AND 6, 2021

The Media Advocacy Coalition publishes a report that assesses the scale of a massive attack on media representatives in Tbilisi on July 5 and 6, 2021. The report analyzes the preconditions and legal aspects of the violence on media representatives. The report describes the results of illegal interference in journalistic activities as a result of which  journalists and camerapersons were injured, the legitimacy and expediency of decisions made by the authorities. 

The document also casts light on the practice of identification, detention and prosecution of the perpetrators of violent events. 

The assessment is based on the study of public and open documents and sources. The report is a collaborative effort of member organisations of the Media Advocacy Coalition.
