The incident in Davitgareji indicates illegal interference in journalism

30 May 2021

On April 4th, 2021, Iveri Melashvili and Mtavari Arkhi TV crew were assaulted while filming in Davitgareji. Per our information, Melashvili was unharmed. But the camera operator was physically attacked and their camera was damaged. Meanwhile, locals are preventing Mtavari Arkhi TV crew from carrying out their work.

The Media Advocacy Coalition’s member organizations urge the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs to promptly investigate the events that occurred at the Davitgareji Monastery Complex and prevent any unlawful intervention in journalism.
