Georgian Dream Officials on the List of NGO Observers

03 November 2024

On November 2, TV Pirveli aired journalistic investigation into the largest Election observer mission, a family-run “independent” mission under the umbrella of two GONGOs, acting in coordination with the Georgian Dream and being part of the election manipulation. Some members of the mission were part of semi-criminal groups, street thugs who stood by the entrance of polling stations intimidating and physically assaulting voters. Some observers accompanied voters to the booth and supervised them. According to TV Pirveli, dozens of public servants, local authorities, including a district governor from Tbilisi, were accredited as the observers. The head of the mission was not able to identify neither the sources of funding nor the specifics of observers’ recruitment or election observation training.
