Another Case of Targeted Pressure Against Formula TV

20 October 2025

The arrest of Formula TV journalist Keta Tsitskishvili represents yet another attack on independent media in Georgia.

According to media reports, Keta Tsitskishvili was arrested on charges of blocking the road. Notably, on October 19, her colleague Formula journalist and TV presenter Vakho Sanaia was illegally arrested and sentenced to six days in prison on identical grounds.

The Georgian Dream government’s arrest of journalists constitutes a direct assault on press freedom and freedom of expression. Under these conditions, independent media face severe threats that fundamentally undermine a democratic society’s right to information.

The Media Advocacy Coalition expresses full solidarity with Keta Tsitskishvili, Vakho Sanaia, and all citizens who have been illegally detained under repressive legislation. We demand their immediate release and an end to the targeted persecution of journalists.
